Why does aloe vera benefit animals?

For many years the use of aloe vera has intensified for the treatment of many diseases and wounds of the skin of people, and in the following article we will discover why it also benefits animals.

What is aloe vera used for?

When the properties of aloe vera were discovered, many skeptics did not believe it was possible that so many nutrients could come together in one plant.

However,  its benefits became clear after being used in a variety of circumstances. It has been shown to contain amino acids, a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, tannins, carbon hydrates and many other components.

Here are its most common functions:

  • Energizing
  • Digestive
  • Detoxifying
  • Improves the absorption of nutrients
  • Improves the absorption of medicines
  • Moisturizing
  • Relieves itching
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Analgesic
  • Cicatrizing
  • Renew damaged cells
  • Improve blood circulation
  • Antibiotic
  • Antifungal
  • Antiviral

These are some of the benefits known to people so far:  but why is it also good for animals?

The benefits of aloe vera on animals

  • Allergies . It is ideal for treating skin rashes or inflammations. These disorders could be caused by a food allergy.
  • Hair loss. Shedding is not normal if the animal is not in the moulting period, so it could be caused by a disease or infection. Aloe vera  will be the perfect antidote to fight it. If it also has areas of the body completely devoid of hair, this plant could promote its regrowth.
  • Wounds . Aloe vera is ideal for treating wounds thanks to its gelatinous composition,  which gives a regenerating effect that promotes healing. In addition, it will serve to protect the area from possible infection.
  • Organ damage. This plant is also beneficial as a drink. Aloe vera juice  will help your dog to recover the proper functioning of damaged organs,  as well as detoxify the body.
  • The hormones . Animals also have hormonal problems, such as imbalances. Minerals such as zinc, magnesium and many others present in aloe vera  will help regulate the body  and, therefore, the proper functioning of hormones.

Aloe vera is also used in cases of cancer : although it is not a cure, it  can retard cell growth.

The most common use of this plant is topical, although it can also be drunk. However, before giving it to your pet orally, ask your veterinarian if it is suitable for him.

In case you use it on the skin, you can do it in two ways: by passing an aloe leaf directly on the affected area or by creating a homemade cream. How to do it?

Mix the aloe juice with a little oil, which will act as an emulsifier. If you want, you can add some gelatin to make it creamy. You will see how it will alleviate your pet’s skin problems.
