Kinkalow Cat Care : brushing, bathing, grooming tips

Let’s find out how to best take care of the Kinkalow: all the tips to follow, from the shine of the coat to the oral hygiene of the cat.

Taking care of your Kinkalow cat is not a mere aesthetic question: cleaning the furry dog is essential to guarantee it a long and peaceful life. Here are all the tips to put into practice for the well-being of our four-legged friend.

Kinkalow coat care: brushing and bathing

The first important aspect to consider in the care of the Kinkalow concerns the coat of the cat.

To take care of it better, we will need to brush it daily. Its semi-long coat, in fact, needs to be untangled with the help of a brush with long and soft bristles.

To make the cat’s fur really shiny, after having combed it both in the direction in which the fur grows and against the hair, we can dab it with a homemade solution based on water and vinegar.

In order for its coat to be healthy and bright, in any case, the primary care concerns the cat’s diet.

Wash the cat yes or no?

Is bathing our Kinkalow really necessary to take better care of his coat?

There is generally no need to wash the cat. As is well known, in fact, domestic cats are very scrupulous animals and attentive to their personal hygiene.

Bathing our four-legged friend could be essential in the case of very old or sick cats, who do not provide for their own personal hygiene.

Or, if the cat has just returned from a long period of convalescence and needs our help.

In this case, it is essential to ask the veterinarian for advice, who will be able to identify the most suitable modality for the specific conditions of the animal.

Generally, it is possible to resort to dry detergents, to be sprayed on the cat’s fur, or to the classic washing with water.

In the first case, the use of these products is simple and fast: once the foam has been dispensed and distributed on the cat’s coat, it will need to be brushed off with a brush or a glove.

In the second case, however, we will have to pay attention to numerous factors, including the temperature of the water, the chosen shampoo, which must be specifically formulated for the furry dog, and the complete drying of the cat’s fur.

Cleaning of eyes, ears and teeth

The care of the Kinkalow cannot neglect the hygiene of the eyes, ears and teeth of the cat.

Given the peculiar shape of the animal’s ears. the advice is to periodically inspect them to avoid any wax deposits, which could cause the onset of infections and skin disorders.

To do this, you can use special cat sprays. Never use products formulated for human use: they are extremely dangerous for the health of the animal!

Alternatively, you can dab the feline’s auricle with gauze slightly soaked in warm water.

The same procedure is also effective for cleaning the cat’s eyes from any secretions and ocular discharges.

Finally, never underestimate the cleaning of the Kinkalow’s teeth. If tartar and bacteria accumulate in the oral cavity of the four legs, in fact, the cat could develop pathologies such as gingivitis and stomatitis.

How to proceed in this case? Brushing the teeth of the four-legged with special brush and toothpaste for cats, or using a spreadable cream with a sanitizing action, to be distributed on the animal’s teeth.

Kinkalow Nail Care

Finally, we just have to answer one last question about the Kinkalow care: should the cat’s nails be cut?

In principle no: cats usually tend to sharpen their claws by themselves.

In the case of elderly and sedentary specimens, however, a little help from us may be needed.

In this case, it is necessary to press lightly on the fingertips of the cat, in order to make the nail come out completely.

After that, only the non-vascularized part of the claw must be checked, using a special nail clipper.
