Eliminate the smell of dog urine with natural methods

Who doesn’t love their pet ? Seeing a cat or dog walking around the house makes life happier; but until they become adults they will leave their pee all over the house  and scratch the furniture. Ultimately it takes some effort to teach him that these things are not done at home, especially that you do not pee.

But what happens when our puppy urinates around the house? In addition to having to remove it, the house remains impregnated with its unpleasant smell. It is for this reason that we want to show you some tricks to eliminate odor using natural methods, without using products that are harmful , both for animals and for humans.

Natural products that remove urine odor.

Most of the products we need to eliminate the smell of dog urine can be  found in our pantry, but whether or not they are chemical products, let’s first make sure that they do not damage the surfaces to be treated or that they are not toxic to ours. pet. For this reason, we recommend that you do some tests on a small area of the surface to be cleaned before starting. A first tip is to remove the urine as soon as possible , so it will be easier to remove the stain and the remaining odor will not be as strong.

Baking soda

Baking soda is your best ally for eliminating dog pee odor. It can be used alone or mixed with other products, as one of the fundamental characteristics of bicarbonate is to help neutralize odors of an organic nature , such as urine.

If you use baking soda alone, the best thing is to pour an adequate amount on the areas impregnated with the smell. It is left to act for a few hours, preferably overnight. Vacuum the next day.

The vinegar

Vinegar is another natural product that will help you eliminate the bad smell, but if you mix it with baking soda, the result will be enhanced. Just mix two cups of white vinegar, two cups of warm water and four tablespoons of baking soda. It is best to pour the mixture into a bottle with the nebulizer. Simply spray the area where the urine is and clean.

The lemon

Did you think that lemon was only used for cooking? Of course not, it also serves to clean and remove bad smells. It has many properties and one of them is to eliminate germs from any surface.

The procedure is very simple, you need to mix two cups of water, half a cup of lemon juice and another half cup of baking soda. Mix well and apply to the stained area. It is preferable to put the mixture in a bottle with the nebulizer, so it will be easier to apply it.

Sodium borate

Sodium borate, also known as borax , can be bought in the supermarket. It will be sufficient to apply this product on the offending surface and rub with a dry cloth. After that, leave it to act for an hour and finally vacuum the entire area.

Eliminate the smell of dog urine from the carpet.

If you are a carpet lover, but you also have a dog at home, it becomes essential to teach him to do his business outside. But let’s say your dog just decided to pee on your carpet, it’s still very easy to get rid of the smell.

First of all pour water over the urine and dab the stain with a sponge to make it absorb all the liquid . Be careful not to rub too hard, otherwise the urine will penetrate the carpet deeper. Finish the operation by removing the rest of the liquid with a cloth.

At the end, spray some air freshener and you will see that the result will be excellent. But remember that you can apply this mode when your dog has recently urinated on the carpet. If the pee is already dry, it is best to use vinegar with baking soda to remove it.

To prevent your dog from peeing on the carpet, we suggest you prepare a solution with equal parts of water and vinegar and sprinkle the area of the carpet where the dog likes to mark the territory. You will see that it will no longer do it.
