Can the cat drink cow’s milk, or can this drink be harmful to her body? Here’s what to know about it.
Our adorable pet felines can boast numerous qualities including independence, mysterious charm and a solitary character. Our four-legged friends, however, do not lack some small weaknesses. In fact, there is one thing a cat can hardly resist: a nice bowl of milk. Is giving him this drink healthy, or would it be better avoided? Here is the answer to this question.
Cow’s milk to cat yes or no?
Planning the perfect nutrition for our furry dog is essential for his life to be long, peaceful and healthy.
A question that has recently opened up a wide debate in relation to the cat’s diet concerns whether it is healthy or not to make the cat drink cow’s milk.
While not a deadly food for cats, cow’s milk is certainly not recommended.
In fact, even as puppies, it is suggested to give a special milk for kittens, as cow’s milk is low in fat, protein and minerals but also too rich in lactose.
Even for an adult cat, cow’s milk is difficult to digest, so much so that the veterinarians themselves suggest not giving more than 40 ml of milk a day, in case the four-legged is particularly fond of this drink.
In any case, it would be good to avoid it altogether. Furthermore, giving cow’s milk to the feline is categorically prohibited if the animal is allergic or intolerant to lactose.
Milk to the cat: the side effects on the health of the four legs
Making the cat drink cow’s milk is a habit that is not without risks for the well-being of the furry dog.
An adult cat, in fact, could lose the ability to digest lactose, as the enzymes for lactose – called lactase – are no longer produced by their body.
Over time, your cat may also become lactose intolerant.
Among the most common symptoms of this disorder are:
- red spots on the body;
- problems with digestion;
- diarrhea in cats;
- abdominal bloating.
In this case, of course, it is essential to avoid administering the vaccine to the animal.
Moreover, this type of food is not at all necessary in his diet.
